According to trusted internet sources, Lumpy Leach, Lubbock's version of the Pillsbury Doughboy, has been fired. This goes down in my book as a plus. A coaching change at Texas Tech might give the Aggies a little breathing room in their quest to regain middle-of-the-pack status in the Big 12. For far too long, Tech has had a lock on the spot in the South that would be held by TAMU if life were fair.
On the other hand, Tech may replace Lumpy with an even better coach, and the Red Raiders may continue to strike terror in the hearts of Aggies everywhere. Who knows ?
Added 9:28 am, Thursday 31 December: Amazing as it seems, the Leach firing is attracting all kinds of media attention, and it's nice to see a Texas football program other than TAMU's in the glare of an unfavorable spotlight. Even The Huffington Post has commentary on the topic.
