He's dumb. They're dumber.

Donnie Velveeta is really dumb. How dumb is he? Donnie's so dumb that when you call him a fucking tool, he thinks you're admiring his fantastic sexual stamina.

Based on a year of accumulated data, we know there are now two kinds of Republicans. There are some who know everything Donnie Velveeta says is a lie, but they don't give a damn. Then there's the majority, who would gladly suck shit from a dead pig's ass if Donnie told them it was chocolate ice cream.

Bad Apples

This Scalise guy is proof that the worst Republicans are totally beyond redemption. If we made a list of the 100 worst Republicans in Congress, and then made a second list of the 20 worst Republicans on the first list, Scalise would be on it.

Any list of rotten Republican turds that includes Scalise (in other words, all of them) will also include the so-called vice precedent (sic) Mike Pence, who wasted a lot of taxpayer dollars staging a publicity stunt at an NFL game.

More about Fucking Moron and Mike (Turd) Pence and their phony bullshit, which is estimated to have cost the taxpayers a cool 250,000 bucks. But that's nothing compared to the millions Fucking Moron has pissed away on Tomahawk missiles and weekend golf getaways. We can't afford these motherfuckers, in more ways than one.

Insanity Alert

The insanity level today is reaching the "hazardous to your health" range.

Why are those white guys going on mass murder sprees? Well, for one thing, there's too much public disrespect for Donny Johnny (according to worthless evangelical asshole Pat Robertson). But there's a different asshole on Fox News blaming CNN for demonizing gun owners, which then makes them kill people. Finally, the so-called precedent (sic) is in Puerto Rico, comforting the storm victims by telling them they're blowing a hole in the federal budget, and how they've got it good compared to Katrina victims.

Shoot 'em if you got 'em.

From Think Progress, dated 6 March 2016:

"Gun owners in West Virginia will no longer need to get a permit to have a concealed weapon, putting it among the most far-reaching states for gun rights. The House voted on the measure Friday and officially overrode a gubernatorial veto on Saturday.

When the law kicks in on May 26, West Virginia will become one of eight states that allow concealed carry without a permit. Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, Vermont, and Wyoming are so-called constitutional carry states. In Wyoming, the law applies to residents only."

Okay, I understand Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, West Virginia, and Wyoming. But what the hell's going on with Maine and Vermont?

A poll taken in West Virginia last February showed 71 percent of the state's voters thought a permit should be required for concealed carry. Apparently the West Virginia legislature is much more fucked up than the population as a whole.

Rights

Here's a thought. Every state should be required to make it as simple to get an abortion as it is to obtain a firearm. Abortions and gun ownership are both Constitutional rights, and both deserve the same level of legal protection.

This idea is circulating on the Internet.

Of course, if states were required to make it as hard to get guns as they make it to get abortions, that would be the end of the GOP in red states.

Take a walk, George

At last white America has revenge for the verdict in the O.J. Simpson criminal trial. In Florida, George Zimmerman has been acquitted. Zimmerman has a Jewish name, but claims to be Hispanic. The trial jury was made up of six women, five white and one Hispanic. Like the Simpson jury, the jurors in Zimmerman's trial claimed the prosecution didn't prove its case. This time, the black guy was the deceased, not the defendant.

I didn't have enough interest in the matter to spend time following the details, so maybe Zimmerman actually was the victim as 99.99 percent of the right-wing gun crazies in the United States have been insisting all along. What I know is the guy with the gun is alive, the unarmed black guy that the armed guy was trailing is dead, and conservative Americans are dancing in the streets.

Firing Line

According to every conservative Republican on the planet, guns do NOT kill people. Well, maybe, but that's what they're designed and intended to do, and they simplify the process tremendously.

Bomb-Free Zones

Bombs don't kill people. People kill people. What happened in Boston shows why we shouldn't restrict the right of law-abiding citizens to carry explosives.

More insanity in Georgia

The city council in Nelson, Georgia passed an ordinance mandating gun ownership with a 5-0 vote. This was apparently another symbolic gesture by conservatives letting that uppity N know what they think of him. Fortunately for the people of Georgia and the rest of the Dixie Belt, nobody has passed a law making intelligent thought mandatory.

2nd Amendment Stuff

This picture was taken at one of the many Guns Across America rallies over the weekend. For some people, gun worship = patriotism.

Post Aurora

The NRA has discovered its cash cow. They keep enrollment high and the money pouring in by stirring up paranoia that private arsenals will soon be confiscated so that would-be resistance fighters will be powerless when the Obama Gestapo arrives at their doors.

The fact that Democrats have been slapped silly over the gun control issue and have no stomach to bring it up again goes right past people who get their info from the NRA.

Packing heat over lattes

I've been in a Starbucks location twice in my life. The first time was to buy a gift card for my bro in Houston, the second to try redeeming a gift card from my sis in Austin. When it comes to Starbucks, I'm basically out of the loop and that's why I had to Google "starbucks handguns" to discover the point of the Doonesbury comic strips I've been reading this week.

Apparently the gun crazies decided to provoke a fight by wearing their pistols openly when they went in to buy their four-dollar cups of java, their assumption being that Starbucks is a liberal outfit that would ban them, giving the organized gun nuts something else to bitch about. The company, demonstrating the acumen that enabled it to become a giant in the "cuppajoe" industry, instead announced its locations would comply with whatever state and local gun regulations permitted.

Personally, I would prefer that Texas was an "open carry" state --- in fact, if it were up to me, Texans would be required to wear their pistolas in open view rather than concealing them. I like the attitude Starbucks has shown, and admire them for not stepping into the trap. I still believe their coffee is beyond my limited budget, but if you don't see me in Starbucks, it won't be because their gun policies offend me.

Feeding fringe fantasies

Things I can live without: cell phone use by drivers and in public places, fantasy football leagues, and Republicans. There are other things on my list, but those are the first three that come to mind. Republicans, though. Damn, we need to do something about them for sure.

Okay, liberals had their antiwar protests during the eight year plague of the W. administration, and sometimes things probably got out of hand. But when I see a bunch of liberals carrying posters, I don't automatically start wondering how many of them are also carrying concealed firearms and hoping for an excuse to use 'em.

Just when I think right-wing crazies have reached the bottom of the insanity barrel, they come up with something new. This time, it's panic over Obama's death panels. The first time I heard that term, my immediate reaction was that maybe the Democrats had finally come up with a solution to the nation's Republican problem. Now it turns out that the Democrats don't want to exterminate Republicans after all, just old people in general. And maybe Sarah Palin's baby.

In my lucid moments, I think it would be best if I just try to ignore the lunatic fringe and go on enjoying my life. Really, I think my bro in Houston has it figured out. He remembers the country was practically ripped in two by the civil rights movement and the Vietnam war, but eventually things settled down -- most people accepted the results and even decided things had probably worked out for the best. The stuff that gets headlines these days is fairly trivial compared to the big issues of the sixties. It only gets attention because news media people are bored. A relative handful of obnoxious bottom-feeders are banging pots, and the people with cameras and microphones are reporting it like they were somehow important. Yeah, the potbangers are on TV and in America, the public is conditioned from childhood to believe that if they see something on television it must be significant, so they get a little worried, too.

The best thing Obama has going for him is the notoriously short attention span of the typical American. This country generally finds ways to muddle through anything that gets thrown in its path, and it will again. Deep down inside, I think the fringe element nuts realize that and are trying to get in as many licks as they can now, while there's still some uneasiness among the sane people. Once the economy starts to mend, and it eventually will, nobody will care about the things birthers and teabaggers are obsessing over now.

Added 9:26 am, Saturday, 15 August: Paul Krugman on this issue. I don't always agree with Krugman, but this time I think he's on the right track.

Shooting irons

At some of the metropolitan Texas newspaper websites, particularly the Houston Chronicle and Austin American Statesman, registered online readers have access to free blogspace, with a few restrictions regarding offensive content. I've been scouting reader blogs to see if they've produced anything worthwhile or inspirational. Some are excellent, some less so, some are a total waste of keystrokes. Most people would probably place my blogs in the latter category. Whatever.

After checking blogs written by hardcore conservatives, it's obvious Texas has folks who are so in love with their guns they want to sleep with them, and would make love to them if they could figure out how to do it without blowing holes in themselves. Helpful hint: Unload your gun before making love to it.
