Hope for the hill country

http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/blog/tomgleinser

While I was playing in other pastures, I stumbled onto a dimbulb named Tom Gleinser, who ran (maybe is running) for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives from the Dripping Springs area, but posts comments at newspapers using the screen name lurch. His work is featured at the Austin American Statesman, and an example of his unique wit can be seen at the link above.

Gleinser is a businessman who claims to be a libertarian, as opposed to a Repub. Based on the crap he spews under his pseudonym, though, he's got enough Republican tendencies to pass for one.

It's a sign that I'm getting old, but I can remember when candidates for public office made a real effort to avoid being offensive, at least until they'd been elected with a safe majority. This Gleinser dude is developing into one of those sad perpetual office-seekers we read about, and hasn't broken the 5 percent barrier in his previous election campaigns. According to his personal rationalization, his showings result from his principled stand in refusing to spend any money on advertising. Maybe it has more to do with the fact that he's totally inexperienced and an obnoxious hole to boot ?
