According to a story in the morning paper, the US government is going to spend roughly 42 million dollars sending out letters to taxpayers notifying them of the stimulus package rebate checks that congress recently approved. I have problems with that.
First of all, anyone who doesn't already know about the stimulus package is not making an effort to keep up. Second of all, the government could save a lot of money by just paying me 20 million; in return, I'd promise to tell everyone I know to be on the lookout for a check sometime in May or June. That's a saving of over 50 percent. The damned government should be looking for ways to cut costs in times like these.
