William F. Buckley died yesterday at age 82. He was supposedly at his desk, writing, when he passed away. In my book, that would be a nice way to go. Buckley is widely considered a progenitor of the modern conservative movement, but on my scorecard, I can't add him as a point for the bad guys. For some reason, I don't think of Buckley as being in the same category as Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Dobson, Falwell, Rove, DeLay, and the other familiar names in that crowd. It probably has to do with his style and the fact he was obviously intelligent. Sometimes he would write something I agreed with.
All factors considered, I can't count him as one of the good guys, but he wasn't one of the bad guys either.
