Once again, voter ID laws are in the news, this time as a case to be decided by the US Supreme Court. You can put me in the category of people who believe this is another bogus issue (like frivolous lawsuits, media bias, and Whitewater) cooked up by the VRWC as a misdirection play to confuse people about what they're really doing. I'm pretty sure there was vote fraud and election tampering in 2000 and probably again in 2004, but it wasn't the result of little old ladies and Mexicans without photo ID cards.
In Texas, you have to register to vote, and every year, I get a new voter registration card. When I go to vote at my specified precinct, I have to sign the log in the space designated next to my name. No one has ever asked me for a photo ID, and none was ever needed.
The exit polls that showed Gore and Kerry winning on election day have been ridiculed. Now consider this: Maybe the polls were accurate, but the votes weren't counted the way they were intended. Next to the JFK assassination, it's not much of a conspiracy theory, but it'll do for now.
