I'm not familiar with the Gin and Tacos blog, but this post addresses something I've been thinking about today and earns a link. The local newspaper ran an article this morning about an Associated Press poll that shows a modest uptick in Obama's overall approval rating. About a half dozen of the area's lunatics posted comments to the effect that it's proof of a vast left-wing conspiracy since the Rasmussen poll didn't indicate a similar change. In other words, since the poll results don't agree with their provincial right-wing view of reality, they're bogus and part of a media plot to prop up a failed presidency.
I'm getting some amusement from watching Republicans torture themselves over Obama the way I tortured myself through eight years of G.W. Bush. Every time Bush's job approval slipped a few points, I tried to persuade myself that it was a sign the rest of the country was turning against the bastard, too. These days, conservatives are watching each poll blip and salivating over their prospects for electoral glory in 2010 and 2012. Maybe, maybe not. To get the full experience, though, they need to bleed through a full eight years of minority misery.
