David Brooks isn't what I'd call a moderate, but he's fairly sensible for a Republican and he may understand how moderates think. His column presents a reasonable case --- if Democrats think they can run the country by appealing to their base, they're just as crazy as Republicans who thought they could win forever by appealing to theirs. Of course, I'm biased since I think of myself as one of those moderate, independent voters.
On the other hand --- Chait at The New Republic presents a counterbalancing argument. And as always, Clarence Page sums things up as well as anyone can.
And finally --- Tom Frank writes an excellent WSJ column on why the Dems are losing the health care battle.
