Chicks, hicks, and picks

The primary distinguishing characteristic of Jorge's presidency has been that in every situation, he can be relied upon to choose the worst of the possible alternatives. If the choice was good and better, he'd pick good. If it was bad and worse, he'd pick worse. The pattern has been so consistent, it's been like money in the bank.

We're not yet on the eve of Speedo's first term, but I'm already getting the sense he'll be a Bush clone with an uncanny ability to consistently choose the least desirable alternative time after time. He's started by choosing Karl Rove proteges to fill campaign staff slots. His next big choice will be the VP selection, and there are rumors on the internet tonight it'll be Willard Romney. Like W, given a choice among bad, worse, and worst, Ace goes with worst. I could be wrong now, but I don't think so (apologies to Randy Newman).

My favorite theme on Skid Marks is the abject stupidity of half of America's population, and tonight I watched a movie on Starz that's a textbook lesson on the subject. It was a 2006 documentary called Shut Up and Sing, about the Dixie Chicks and the controversy that followed their anti-W remark at a 2003 London concert. I wasn't a big fan of the group, but after the country music world started boycotting them, I decided to give them a listen. In one scene Jorge is shown commenting on the controversy (the gals are free to state their opinion, but the shitkickers are free to burn their CDs in bonfires), and Natalie calls him a dumb fuck. She took the words right out of my mouth. The film is recommended viewing if you agree with anything you read at this blog.
