Julie Mason operates a pretty good political blog called Beltway Confidential at the Houston Chronicle. The commentary at the link is an example of something that pisses me off, though. I'm on the short list of people who don't give a shit about Barry's sense of humor. I have strong recollections of the 2000 news media focus on Jorge's likeable personality and his terrific sense of humor (e.g., assigning cute nicknames to everybody, including other heads of state). Because voters were told repeatedly what a neat guy Jorge was, a lot of people decided he was their buddy and voted accordingly.
Americans need to get over their tendency to choose leaders based on superficial criteria. Personally, I want my next president to be deadly serious. I've had it up to here with the world's grabass champion.
