Karl Rove Compares Barack Obama to That Really Rich, Suave Guy We All Hang Out With Indecision2008 Comedy Central:
"ABC News' Christianne Klein reports that at a breakfast with Republican insiders at the Capitol Hill Club this morning, former White House senior aide Karl Rove referred to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, as 'coolly arrogant.'
'Even if you never met him, you know this guy,' Rove said, per Christianne Klein. 'He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by.' "
Karl Rove's characterization of Barry was a blogosphere topic this week, and I thought I detected a note of envy.
Even if you never met Karl Rove, you knew this guy once. He was the fat kid who played piccolo in the high school band, and sat by himself at the science club meetings. His halitosis and vaguely hermaphroditic quality led to him being ignored by his classmates and ridiculed behind his back. To get attention, he announced he'd eat cockroaches, and not just the little brown ones, the big nasty black ones too.
Soon the cool kids would surround Karl while he chowed down on all the captured cockroaches they brought him. Karl thought their laughter was a sign they liked him.
It took a while, but eventually the novelty value of a fat nerd eating insects wore off and Karl was alone again.
