More about elitism

Obama is an elitist. He's out of touch with the honest, ordinary, God-fearin' folks in the heartland. So goes the drone in the media and on the internet, perpetuated by the people who most fear an Obama presidency. Since this is a news story that won't go away, I'll continue to throw in my fwiw's.

I've tried to make it obvious that I don't have much use for most of the crap that goes on in this country. The fact that W still has a job approval rating around 30 percent indicates that nearly one out of three Americans are too hopeless to waste spit on. The racket over Obama's alleged elitism is just another burr under my blanket.

If any family could be considered part of America's ruling elite, it would be the Bush clan. They're right up there with the Kennedys as part of our power structure. In spite of that, in the 2000 election W convinced a lot of voters he was just a good ole boy they'd enjoy havin' a beer with. This probably stemmed from the fact W wasn't particularly literate or articulate, and you could sense he was the kind of guy who'd spill soup in his lap or sneeze on the cake at a wedding reception. The doofus element in American society perceived in W a kindred spirit, rightly or wrongly.

I'll never forget arguments I had with conservatives in my family at the time. Whenever I asked what in hell they saw in W, the answer was-- he's just a good ole boy from Texas. What could he possibly offer the country as president ? He's a good ole boy from Texas. And so forth.

The good ole boy that people imagined havin' beers with was able to keep the vote close enough to win the election in the Supreme Court, and now we have over seven years of public record to reflect upon. Frankly, if this crap is what we can expect from a prez who's in touch with the common man, you can keep my share.

It doesn't matter what Obama says or does. He's not going to be the next prez because in this country he doesn't look the part. All this noise about elitist attitudes is just public rationalization so we don't have to talk about the reason he was unelectable before the campaign ever started.
