Another thing that's completely predictable: Any gathering of Republican legislators anywhere will eventually waste time passing ridiculous symbolic gestures. It causes me to wonder why they do that. The most likely explanation is that the people who vote for Republican legislators are mostly ignorant yahoos who are impressed by meaningless symbolic gestures. I've also noticed this activity occurs most often in backwater hellholes like Alabama and Arkansas.
